The MADAG Strategy for Fault Location Techniques

Spectrum-based fault localization (SBFL), which utilizes spectrum information of test cases to calculate the suspiciousness each statement in a program, can reduce developers’ effort. However, applying redundant from suite incurs heavy burden, especially restricted resource environment, and it is expensive infeasible inspect results input. Prioritizing/selecting appropriate important enable practical application SBFL technique. In addition, we must ensure that selected tests achieve approximately effectiveness with whole tests. This paper presents case prioritization/selection strategy, namely Minimal Aggregate Diversity All Groups (MADAG). The MADAG strategy prioritizes/selects using on diversity execution trace case. We implemented applied 233 faulty versions Siemens UNIX programs Software-artifact Infrastructure Repository. experiments show (1) uses only 8.99 14.27 cases, an average 18, suites, respectively, technique has approximate for all outperforms previous best prioritization method; (2) verify may not better compared by strategy.
